For the past few years Steve has taken a continuing ed course through Emory at the Ritz in Amelia Island, Florida. The quiet, family atmosphere makes this an enjoyable beach trip - not so commercial as our beaches. This year Gary decided to take the class, too, so we had the pleasure of Peggy and Malisa joining us also! Sara Frances was able to get off work and Harley had a few days off before starting his new job.
Our first day was spent on the beach with Steve & Harley unsuccessfully fishing! ha. Gary,Peggy, & Malisa got in late that night. The next three mornings consisited of classes for S and G, working out in the gym for SF & H, shopping for P & M, and relaxing with a book & my laptop for me. We spent some afternoon time by the pool at the Ritz, and shopping downtown Fernandina. On Sunday, we went for a sailboat outing which turned ugly. A violent storm blew in too quickly for us to get to safety, the main sail broke loose; the captain tried to anchor to ride out the storm, but the anchor line broke; - long story short... we were recused by the Coast Guard. Whew! Needless to say, we made friends pretty quickly with the ten other passengers on board. That night, we went to dinner and bar-hopping with our newfound friends and had a ball! Our little mini vacation to Amelia was truly an adventure this year.
